I do not get a heck of a lot of spam, but it pees me off when I do get some. There is always some waste of time associated with opening it.
Consumer Reports rated Trend Micro highly, plus it is free.
Any reason why I should not go with Trend Micro?

I've used Trend Micro for extended periods in the past. I used PCcillin, their a/v for two years (2003-4) on one of my PCs and I used their anti spy program for one year on another PC. I was quite satisfied with both of those programs and based on those experiences, plus the high quality of their often recommended online a/v scanner I'd say they're an excellent choice.
I do have to temper that though with one problem I had last month. I used their latest Vista compatible beta a/v firewall combo (on an XP pro comp) and it was bad news. Sluggish, wouldn't open properly and used a huge am't of ram... nearly 200megs!
Still, it was a beta so I'm assuming that they'll sort that out quickly since others were having the same problems as well.
I should also add I've never used their antispam program and have recommended mailwasher in the past but as they are a legit company with high quality products I would certainly think that their antispam program would be worth checking out especially if it's free.
