Hi,
I'm installing a new computer with the following parts
Asus P5L-VM 1394 motherboard
Intel Dual Core E6300
PQI 2 5400 2GB Ram (used part)
Seagate SATA 400GB Hard drive
Antec Sonata II case
Everything is new except for the ram. When I turn on the computer there's no beep sound and the LCD monitor doesn't go to the green light. Any suggestions to which one of the components might be bad? Thanks.
Are you using onboard video?

Are any lights on on the motherboard?
I tried with the ATI Radeon X850XT first but when I had the problem I took it out and used the onboard video. Thanks for your fast reply.
Only the green light on the motherboard and the case power on light
Did you make sure to connect the 12 volt ATX connector? It will be either 4 pin or 8 pin. It will look like this, or a pair of them:

I'd suspect that RAM. I'm no fan of PQI, I had to RMA mine twice when I built this computer. Finally got rid of it for somePatriot RAM and never looked back.
I just got back home and checked the 4 pin atx connector. Yep, not connected. After plugging that in it's started and I'm installing the OS right now. I checked the manual again and it mentioned that too except I was looking at the big color pictures and not the little picture with the note. A big THANKS to everyone.
Igbpop - I was hoping it wasn't the RAM. But I was having a little buyers regret on that ram too.

Reminds me of the old adage ... "If all else fails, read the instructions... as long as you've checked that it's plugged in!"
Excellent to hear that it worked out and it was that simple ... always a terrible feeling after putting it all together and the power says "What?"
