Registry access denied
Everytime i right cklick in Windows Explorer, a dialog shows up diplaying "Registry access denied". How can I get rid of it?
I get this when loged in as Administartor also. I vave looked at the permisions in regedit32 under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\....] and as far I can see it looks ok. (But when looking at the permisions in regedit32, the Administrator got the message "You only have permission to view the current security information in Explorer". I don't understund why, maybe it's required to use a special utility to change permissions).
I can't see any obvious error messages in the Event Viewer. The only error I can se is:
"The KLIF service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified."
If this is related to the "Registry access denied", how can I track down which file is missing?
But my primary question is how to get rid of the "Registry access denied" dialog.
Hoping for help/

Hi rogla, welcome to Virtual Dr :)
In your Amin account, go to Regedt32, and select HK_Local_Machine, then in Security>Permissions, make sure that the Administrator Group has "Full control" and "Read" permissions set in the "Allow" column. Do the same for HK_Current_User.

Registery Access Denied
Hi I found i got this when i downloaded zipx for windows. try looking back at how long you have had the problem then try uninstalling any freeware you downloaded just before this time.

Nah it's not an infection more then likely. When I saw the above post I uninstalled ZipX and it went away.

Since I could not find an edit botton, I want to however apologize for bumpin' an old thread. I was having this problem and this thread was in the top search results, so I don't want other people being misinformed by seeing that it might be an infection or permissions problem. That didn't fix my problem because I already had mine set! :D ZipX uninstall removed the error though.
