[RESOLVED] High Specifications but big problems.

I have just taken delivery of my new computer.
Asus P5B-Deluxe WiFi Motherboard.Antec P180 Case.Antec Neo 500W PSU.
Corsair TwinX 2GB PC6400 RAM. Intel P950 Processor.Asus EN7900GT Video
card. 2 Pioneer DVR-111DS Burners. 2WD 3200KS SataII HDDs. Floppy drive.
Zalman9500AT CPU Cooler. MS Windows XP Pro SP2 operating system.

Starts well and then comes the problem:

Will not access the Internet Validation page.Will not access some internet Banking sites but no trouble with other bank sites. Will access some Microsoft sites but not the Update sites. WILL NOT ACCESS VIRTUAL DOCTOR EITHER.
(This is being sent from m old setup but using the same Netgear DG834GT Wireless Router Modem and broadband connection.

I cannot establish a pattern of the sites it wont access. There are many and
varied. Some downloads are O.K. othere fail to proceed.

Has anyone a clue to the solution of the problem? The techs at the builders of the system cannot explain or help., :confused: :confused: :confused:

If it's brand new and it doesn't work, take it back. Tell them you need one that can access Microsoft Update, your Banking sites as well as VirtualDr.

Yes SpywareDr. Delivered five days ago, and I am not very pleased with it although it looks grand.

Check your Internet security and cookies filters.

I agree with SpywareDr, take your computer back and ask for a full refund. At the very least one of three things will happen:

1. They will decide that they do indeed have time to solve your problem, no matter how much time it takes to solve the problems to YOUR satisfaction.

2. You will get a new and better computer.

3. You will get a full refund.

Is there any ad blocking software on the pc? How about a custom HOST file?

Why should Oigle spend time trying to trouble shoot the system. Since the system has been in his possession only 5 days, he has a much better chance to make demands without any of the problems being blamed on something he may or may NOT have done.

IMO, the vendor needs to held accountable for delivering the computer in this condition. The customer has a right to expect that the computer will work right out of the box.

I don't know about other vendors, but Oigle needs to check his warranty from his vendor to see what the time limit is for returning the computer for a full refund.

With Dell it is or was 30 days for me when I purchased my computers in 2002 but like everything else, vendors can change the time limits and different vendors can have vastly different requirements.

Maybe he has a two hundred mile drive to take it back would be one reason.

Maybe he'd have to leave it there for a week or more while they look at it would be another one...

Maybe he has access to a wonderful site like VirtualDr where taking things back and formatting drives is considered a last restore option;)

Oigle, as you are behind a router, it is safe enough to temporarily disable the firewall and see if that cures the problem. Most of these type of issues end up being firewall problems I've found.

Try taking the router out of the loop(disconnect). If that works,reset the router.
From command box: ipconfig /flushdns <enter> ipconfig /release <enter> ipconfig /renew <enter> . power off modem. Reboot,power on modem during reboot.

After trying all the suggestions ( except your Linda as the vendors shop is closed today for Stock Taking) I got out an old Dynalink RT100 Modem that I had stopped using when I got my Netgear Wireless/Modem Router. It had no trouble connected to Virtual Doctor in seconds.
As my new motherboard is the Asus P5B-Deluxe/WiFi there would appear to be some problem between it and the Netgear Wireless Router/Modem which will have to be resolved.

My last post was rather premature. Shortly after sending it, the system crashed.
It will not boot up. BIOS appears to be corrupted.
Tomorrow it is back to the supplier and I hope that they get it right this time.

Well I have the new computer back and the problems appear to have been resolved.
Two Items contributed to the problem: 1. One of the RAM chips was not properly
seated in the slot. 2. I have updated the firm ware of my router. The original firmware had a series of bugs including wireless connectivity.

I will now proceed slowly to install my software. Thanks to all for the advice.

After my last post the motherboard failed and was replaced by Asus with a new motherboard of the same type. And I now have the new computer back in service but with the same initial problems of not being able to access some sites on the internet. Virtual Dr. Forum being one that will not load. Yhe suppliers say there is nothing wrong with the computer as it has been running in there workshop for days of testing without a failure. They blame the modem.
I have replaced the ADSL modem with a new Netgear DG834GT Wireless Modem Router. but still the same result. I need the wireless router modem for other Netgear Components in my home. There is no problem accessing the other components.
Is there some compatibility issue between the Asus P5B-Deluxe WiFi Motherboard and the Netgear DG834GT Wireless Modem Router?
The new computer is running WinXP Sp2.
The sent this query I am using my old computer using Win98SE with the new Netgear DG834GT Wireless Modem Router and I have no problems accessing any sites.
Can it be a WinXP Sp2 problem?
