I am getting ready to reload XP onto a new Western Digital hard drive with 8MB cache. Bad as I hate to, I plan to phase out 98SE, which I am going to miss but I don't see that I have any other choice, since it is no longer supported by M$ or vendors. Anyway, I wish to backup my Firefox history and settings and transfer them to the new installation. How do I do this?

The programs that do the job for you are pretty good, i've used them before.

??? I'm not dependent on MS for support, never have been, and plan on using 98SE until I find something better which is NOT XP! I can do\am doing all I want with 98SE with a considerability smaller installation than XP. In fact my current 98SE installation, with add-on programs, is smaller than a basic installation of XP! As long as software does not wear out 98SE is the OS of choice for me ubtil I find a viable alternative. :eek:
I have Norton Ghost copies of 98SE basic installation, 98SE fully populated with other programs, XP basic installation, and a copy of XP fully populated with other programs. in addition to having the Ghost copies on a HD I have CD or DVD backup copies. Norton's Ghost makes a compressed copy of all data in C: partition and allows a <10 minute restoration of a completely trashed system. I won't compute without Ghost! :D

Try as I and LDThornton do, use Ghost or Drive Image to make copies of your OS setup and use 98 until the software wears out!
