how to remove sony vaio keyboard

Hi,

Does anybody know how to remove a sony vaio GVN-S560P notebook keyboard?

I have the new keyboard but no idea how to swap it with the old one..

Sorry I'm not familiar with notebook. However, what's the problem if you just add the new keyboard to your notebook? Can't you just leave the old one there (I'm assuming you're adding a PS2 or USB keyboard)?

You need to remove the plate just above the keyboard. There may be screws holding this piece down on each side of the laptop. Remove those, then slide the plate to the left. Screws under this plate are removed to allow you to remove the keyboard.

no i need to replace the old one by taking it away....

Read above. You were answering the other poster while I was posting also. All you need to do is remove the top plate just above the keyboard.

thanks for the info but unfortunately it doesn't work with my laptop.. My notebook is a sony vaio vgn-S560P with 13.3 inch screen.

Most Sony's have the screw holding the top plate in place. It's either on the right or the left side of the computer itself. Unscrew that and slide away from the side the screw is on. You may have push hard on it, but that should get you access to the keyboard screws underneath.

You may try Repair4Laptop. They don't have advice for this specific model, but a section about repairing Sony laptops and a section about changing and repairing laptop and notebook keyboards in general.

if you want to remove your keyboard
it does not have a keyboard hood as the person above mentioned

it is true some models must have this plate removed, but this is not the case with your model.

there are 3 or 4 black spring loaded catches that hold it in place.
first remove the bottom center screws ( the ones with the white arrows only) underneath the notebook
then push back the black spring caches and the keyboard will release.
they are hard to see, press down the top row of keys for a better look
if you use something thin to push it back it wil help.
once free slowly pull the keyboard tword you. sort of like the hood of a car.
then to release the keyboard from the motherboard, slide the pressure catch away from the ribbon cable to release pressure and the keyboard is off,
