sooo cheap!

since when did LCD displays become so cheap? i remember buying my 17" LCD display about a year ago or so and the absolute cheapest was 200quid, most where 300+. makes it so tempting to get dual monitors
-
They are cheaper now, and the 19's have come down too, i wish i'd of waited, by two cost £570, for a standard VGA 19", and a DVI 19" Widescreen, so the res is screwy on dual span.

Be careful, amigo--the trick is to find one that's inexpensive, not cheap. That brand appears to be both. ;)
-
Relisys aren't a bad brand IMO, it'd be nicer with a better response time and a DVI input.

Relisys are ok, but that just looks too ugly to buy :D
I don't like monitors with integrated speakers, they look wrong.
-
If it's slow and analog only, it's cheap. :D :D
-
true, but when i got my first monitor i was cash strapped and got one made by Videoseven, the cheapest at the time. it's the only cheap thing i have bought for my computer but it's done me well. only problem is there is one dead pixel but it's out of the way and i rarely notice it. here is another very cheap LCD made by the people who made mine;

only problem is it's 19" and i need 17.
now how to justify being a student without a job (at the moment) and rather large overdraft (thanks to a 7800GT!) and some tuition fees? :o
I know.....
when i write essays and what not at uni i often am using several sources at once. so i have to switch between word and online extracts, journals, wikipedia ( so good!!!). so to have 2 monitors would actually help me do better at university :) .
and it would look mighty cool!
-
That would be a good excuse John, it's a 19" Widescreen too, i could of got me 2 of those with some change for DVI cables compared to the price i paid for a Benq 19", that isn't DVI, and isn't widescreen.

well the one i have now is VGA anyway. and my gfx card came with 2 VGA to DVI connectors. knew it was worth the money ;)
also i'm assuming it's best to get 2 monitors of the same size and dimensions?
-
With the prices dropping I may actually be able to afford one some day :D

slight update on this topic.
it turns out one of my mates has 2 LCD dell monitors going spare. one 19" and another 17". now he will sell me either of them cheap so i defiantly want one. only question is should i get the 17" to go along with my current 17" screen, or will a 17" and 19" combo work? also is there anything else i should be looking out for. DVI,VGA,resolution? my current monitor is VGA but the gfx card is DVI so i have a VGA to DVI converter on the end of it.
-
DVI is nice, is you're 7800GT Dual DVI?
Native Res on 17's and 19's is 1280 x 1024, i think you'd like it more if you go for the 17", so that you can take advantage of spanning, if they are different sizes it can get weird.

Here's what two 20" Dells at 3200x1200 looks like :)
-
oh very nice! i think i'll be happy enough with 2 17" ones.
and yes Liam my 7800GT is dual DVI, but as i said i have 2 VGA to DVI converters for it. The only reason i asked about the sizes is cause i can get them both for the same price. but if it's better with 2 of the same size then that’s what i will do.
