Right click "My Computer" select Properties in the contextual menu, click on the Advanced tab, and click on the first button. Then on the Advanced tab again in this window. Down at the bottom will be your settings button for Virtual Memory. Check that is set to at least 1.5 times what your actual memory is. If you have 512mb of RAM, increase settings to 768 for both. If this is already set higher, delete the numbers in there and restart your computer. Go back into the Virtual memory settings as I described above and change it to 1.5 times your RAM. If you want you can chose to let windows handle your virtual memory. Sometimes this works better than making a setting yourself.
Hi, just to add to what photolady said, Windows has physical memory this is called RAM and you may have something like 512 RAM , now when windows needs to access more memory than your actual physical Amt then it uses what is known as Virtual Memory. You can see how much memory windows is using by opening task manager, performance tab. Now what can happen is the file that controls VM (paging file) can become corrupt, and this is most likely what has happened in your case ( check what your settings are as suggested by photolady). Now you will need to set both max and min settings to 0, 0 and be sure to press " set " after doing this. Or as photolady said clear both entries, just be sure to click "set" after this. Now when you reboot windows will create a new paging file, and as suggested you can then go back to VM settings and change , and as photolady suggested it is probably better to let windows handle the setting so check system managed size.
Thanks for the info. I went to the settings and increased them. I will try that to see what happens. If that does not work, I will try the other suggestion. Thanks for the help!
