[Home] photogallery install on start up? What??

Hi Everyone. Heres my problem that just aroze a few days ago. When i start up my computer i get a windows installer screen regarding photogallery. I dont know what photogallery is nor care.(well, i care now) :mad: Then i get "preparing to install" and bars showing its installing.
Then i get " please wait while windows configures photogallery"
I get a hour glass icon.
Then i get "The feature you are trying to use is on a cd rom or other removable disk that is not available. Insert a photogallery disk and click ok"

What??? Dont know what photogallery is and dont want it.
I click "cancel"
Then i get an error code. "error 1706.No valid source could be found for product photogallery. The windows installer can not continue"

I click the "X" to get ride of that and the process starts over trying to install photogallery.
I have to click cancel, then cancel again quickly to get rid of it , but starts up again when i reboot.

What is this photogallery BS?

Thanks SS for your help. Unfortunately its a no go. Doesnt make a difference. I even uninstalled the clean up and reinstalled. No difference. I went to the windows website and updated my computer. Still get the same photogallery BS. Hmmmmm. :confused: :(

In that case let's make sure that this isn't caused by malware. Do a full Antivirus scan, here are three good online scanners if you need them, or want a second opinion:

Housecall

Panda Online scan

eTrust Web Scanner

Then run these three spyware removal programs, after updating the definitions:

Spybot S & D

Adaware

Microsoft Windows Defender

Thanks SS. Did all that previous to posting here. Apparently its a problem with microsoft and "office". I uninstalled office but still got the photogallery problem. I then reinstalled "office",went into programs. Found the microsoft clean up tool. And manually deleted Photogallery. Ahhhh. Im free. So its resolved. :)

THe problem can get caused when you buy a new HP printer. I purchased an HPC4180 and got this problem after installing the s/w. After finding lots of overcomplicated "fixes" on the web I contacted HP who told me to do this , which fixed it.

1. Insert the software CD shipped along with the unit into the CD drive.

Cancel any installation screen that pops up.

2. Go to My Computer folder. Right click on the CD drive (For Example: D: or E:)
3. Open the contents of the CD.
4. Under the CD contents search for the Setup folder.
5. Under setup folder you will find the Photogallery folder. Open the photogallery folder.
6. Right-click on the "photogallery.msi" file and click on repair.
7. Again right-click on the "photogallery.msi" file and click on install
