There must be a way to do this, but I cannot figure out how.
I have three computers which need to share the same monitor, mouse and keyboard. The problem is that two of the computers require usb cables and the third computer has only ps2 cables. I cannot find a 4-port switch which accepts both. How do I enable these three computers to share the same peripherals?

Why didn't I think of that? It is not that I am not aware of adapters. I just did not think of it. I will look into this possibility immediately.

:D Feel free to come back and yell at me, i thought of it straight off because i had to use one yesterday in order to get my mouse to work properly in Vista....:rolleyes:....nice and cheap too.:)Quote:

I purchased a PS/2 to usb adapter, but when I connect the keyboard to the new computer through the kvm switch, using the adapter. the keyboard does not work. When I connect the keyboard directly to the new computer, without the use of the adapter, it does work. It sounds like my problem is either with the adapter or with the kvm switch. However, my kvm switch works on my old computers. Therefore, Occam's razor would lead me to conclude that the PS/2 to usb adapter is not working.
Does that make sense? If so, what can I do about it?

I've run into this type of problem recently as well. I already tried an adapter and I've found that it didn't work. Now that I'm researching the issue more, All of the PS/2 to USB adapters (to let me use a USB keyboard on a PS/2-only computer) I'm seeing little details in the product descriptions that say the adapters won't work for all keyboards or mice and that your device must be compatible with USB and PS\2 signals. So it appears to be that the keyboards we're using can't handle the PS\2 type of signal. I haven't been able to find an adapter yet that will fix this issue.
Still searching though.
