Random Shutdowns Again
I recently install an Asus a8n-e motherboard, AMD Opteron 170 & XFX nVIDIA GeForce 7800gt. 2 or 3 days later it would just randomly shut down for about 4 or 5 seconds and then turn back on by itself. I monitored the Temps and everything was fine, CPU 36-40c, GPU 40-41c, Motherboard 35-39c (Best I've Ever Had). I had installed new drivers about the time the problems started so I did a System Restore to a Point before the problem. Doing the System Restore seemed to take care or the problem for a day or two but then it came back.
Oh ya, I did say that the computer came back on by itself! I figured out that when I pushed in my keyboard tray it bumped just enough, turnning it back on. I thought maybe a loose wire or a short. I checked everything and couldn't find a thing out of place.
I put back in my old Asus a7n8x-e Deluxe, AMD Athlon 3000+, MSI nVIDIA GeForce FX5900xt. After running it for about a week I had no problems with shutdowns.
I then replaced everything again. Back To The Shutdowns! I had read about Antec Power Supplies and Asus boards sometimes having problems together. The recommended solution was to load the newest BIOS, I already had it! I e-mailed Antec asking them using the same scenario. Just wanted to know if this was the problem that Antec had with Asus. I didn't really get an answer, I got an RMA. So is this the problem "Shutdowns"?
Looks like I'm going to be without my computer for about 30 days or so while Antec either Repairs or Replaces my Antec NeoHE 500w.
Again if you can answer, does Antec have shutdown problems with Asus?

Double check the BIOS settings, as on some of my older ASUS boards, there was a temp setting that initiated that shutdown. May need to up it a 5 - 10C .
So what happens is you put aload on it, the cpu heats up, the BIOS when it reaches that temp does what it is suppost to.

I don't know how old your talking? My board is a 939 pin board (Asus a8n-e), its not that old! It does it when I'm not doing anything, just sitting there maybe reading on the internet. As I posted, my temps are CPU 36-40c, GPU 40-41c, Motherboard 35-39c Idle. In the BIOS I believe its set to shutdown when the CPU reaches 72c. When it shuts down all I have to do to turn it back on is push the keyboard tray in.

That is your manual.
CPU Target Temperature which regulates your fan speed is problaby what you are refering to. 54C is where I would want that to kick in at full speed.
Sounds like you are going into hibernation or sleep mode to me. Might want to adjust the time before that takes effect. Yes, you are sitting there reading, but unless to hit a key or move the mouse to reset the timer, yes it will shut down.

Forgot I posted this here! My problem is solved! It ended up being my Antec NeoHE 500w Power Supply having a problem with my Asus a8n-e Motherboard. Antec RMA'ed the power supply, they sent me a new one and this took care of the problem. I had read an article about the Antec-Asus problem and e-mailed Antec about it.

Thanks for posting that fix.
