LCD Monitor Problems
Acer AL1714 17 inch LCD
Hookup analog (not DVI)
Symptoms:
After anywhere from 2 minutes to 10 minutes the monitor will shut down, does not loose power as amber light stays on and obviously no picture. While the monitor is on the picture is great, can use with many windows open....
When it shuts down it is almost like it goes into hibernation or sleep mode. Power settings within BIOS and Windows are not enabled
Hooked up to two different systems and a LapTop same symptoms. When it does this have to power it down completely, then power back up and it works again. Sometimes just hitting the power button wakes it up.
This monitor supposedly was refurbished. Have not physically taken apart yet..Thinking the inverter (if it has one) or the backlight is somehow loosing power.
Could not find any built in settings for power management within the monitor itself.
Any thoughts.

Its not plugged with dust and maybe causing it to over heat?

When I got it , it was suppose to be refurbished, It looks brand new, took apart to check if there were any problems with any of the circuit boards it is very clean inside.

Yeah,,many times those 'refurbished' items get nothing but a new shipping box as far as repairs. Sounds to me like it may have a faulty capacitor that could be spiking and causing it to shut down...

Hum will put a volt meter on it to check if there are spikes..Thx
