Some nagging questions i heard lately about upgradeing to Vista from earlier versions.
Will there be an upgrade version of Vista from Xp or earlier versions?
Is so can an upgrade be done from 32 bit xp to 64bit vista?
Personally i will go with a new pc and a 64 bit version but i heard a guy say the other day he didint upgrade from win 98 to xp but he will upgrade to vista from win 98.
I dont think this will work to good.
Opinions please?
Common sense dictates that MS wouldn't force the average Joe Blow to go out and purchase an extra drive to backup his data and do a full format/install...But it's possible that users can only upgrade Win2k and XP and nothing before that..

Best practices have always recommended against doing an upgrade install of a new OS. Instead do a fresh install. This prevents a lot of problems.
I also agree with Steve. I believe taht Microsoft will only provide an upgrade option for W2K and XP.
Computers, which have been running W98, ME or NT are probably not upgradeable to even XP, let alone Vista. New hardware will be required for optimum performance.
How many of these systems can handle 1 - 2 GBs of RAM or have a large enough hard drive or a suitable graphics card?
Obviously, if you are going to get new hardware, then you will want to go for a dual core motherboard and a 64 bit system.

Going to Win XP 64bit requires a fresh install. I'm thinking maybe Vista won't require it, bet we'll have to wait and see.
Currently there isn't any real advantage in using XP 64bit. Plus, finding drivers is still a bit hard to do....
