We just remodeled our t.v./ computer room and since hooking back up, my monitor screen 'dances'. I've moved things like my answering machine back to its original spot, have the monitor plugged into an outlet alone and cannot locate any items near by that were not there earlier, i.e. speakers, fax machine, etc.
I ran a monitor test under PC Doctor and that came out fine. HELP!

If the monitor has a "degaus" button, try pressing it.
Should also double check the cable connection from the monitor to the pc.
Are you near any magnets or motors? A big motor could do some interesting things to your monitor, even from a few feet away.
A sub woofer is 3 -4 feet away but it's been even closer until we remodeled. There are 5 surround sound smaller speakers in the room, just as before. The fax machine has been 12 in. from the monitor for years. Nothing has changed other than a disconnect and reconnect this week. I checked the cord into the monitor and it seemed a little loose but I'm still having the 'wiggle' issue.
We had taken the case off the PC and vac'd out the inside. Wondering if we loosened some plug and play device??? Or maybe it liked the dust!
Also, I've seen low frequency vibrations create a rippling effect on monitor screens. Like if a loudspeaker is sitting on on table with the monitor.
I knew that. I even moved my cheap answering machine back to its original spot, further away from the monitor. I just rechecked the connections to the back of the PC and monitor. They seem fine. The PC runs through a filter and a mini ups. The monitor is connected directly to a wall plug now. I'd wondered if there was some conflict in the power filter.
Hubby had added some ogg device which said caused video distortions as a known bug. I uninstalled that and defragged. Hoping some of this might fix the problem. No quiver in the last minute or so.
The quivering has increased but comes in spurts. We've disconnected things like the answering machine and have tried plugging the monitor into an outlet with no other appliance.
My ONLY issue is the quiver. I ran all the 'tests' I know of and all came back fine. The cords appear tight.
We did take the cover off the PC and vac it when remodeling the room. Could something have come slightly loose tho we thought we were so very careful?
Would you guess a bad video card instead with only the quiver problem?
My guess would be with the monitor itself rather than anything in the PC. It's always worth trying another monitor cable. If that doesn't make any difference you need to either try that monitor on another PC, or try a different monitor on that PC to be certain where the problem lies.
We have a KDS Monitor and the cable is hardwired to the back of the monitor. Hubby moved the cord around and made sure it's plugged into the HP really well. It's sure jumping all over tho. Color is fine, videos play fine, annimations work fine, games such as Neopets, play fine..... just the dancing screen.
Brought up the 14" Sony from the rec room and so far no jitters. Our church has a number of used monitors from when they upgraded to flat screens and are giving them away so I'll check with them tomorrow.

Might try playing around with the refresh rate...
Our refresh rate was set on 60. Jim found the monitor manual and it said the refresh rate should be set on 85! We changed it and rebooted and no more 'jitters'.
