powered USB hubs power components w/o computer?

well, I have an iPod and a cell phone that I have USB connections for.

I like to have them connected to the computer, but if I shut the computer down, they don't charge, so I have to switch to the wall for the cell phone sometimes. And I don't even have a wall charger for the iPod (yet, gonna get one off ebay probably)

Anyways, my question is that, if I have a powered USB hub, can I leave the iPod and the Cell phone plugged while the computer is off and have them charge? I could also bring the hub with me places to charge either of them w/o a computer near at all.

(BTW the cell phone is a moto V710)

I don't know that there's any hard and fast answer as to whether a powered hub will leave power on the pins when th PC is switched off. It would be up to the designer of the hub to do as he/she saw fit. Maybe someone will know of a specific make and model that does leave power on pin 1 when the PC is off.

so, how bout people start trying some hubs?
surely a few people who have powered USB hubs wouldn't mind testing it out?
