Networked program lag
We use a work order program at work that's based on Visual FoxPro. It's installed on one PC with 4 other machines running it off of that machine. Each of the client machines has a mapped drive directly to the program folder on the main machine. This is the setup the program vendor recommended.
The problem is extreme lag when performing most tasks. It takes about 15 seconds for a workorder to open on a client machine in the office while the wireless shop machines take over a minute.
The program vendor claims they've never heard of the problem before. Does anyone have any suggestion that might speed up the operation of this program?
TIA

I usually use sysinternals: File Monitor, run it then start the program, and it'll
usually tell you the files that are causing the problem. Maybe you can
narrow it down from there.
I find this program very usefully for troublesome programs.
Hope this helps

Thanks autumn801, that's a real interesting program.

This took awhile but it's now worked out.
First, when creating a shortcut to a program's exe on a networked drive, you should open the networked drive in My Computer and set your shortcut from there. It doesn't work near as well to network a drive but then set your shortcut by going through My Network Places.
Second, the wireless was fine for the internet on all wireless machines but both programs that are networked don't work well with it. We've got one program that's installed on several machines but the data base was located on a wireless machine, the program could not find it. So I've hardwired the entire network and that's solved all the problems.
