Enigma Browser
Hi,
Somehow Enigma Browser has established itself as my default browser, (I don't recall clicking to make it so) and while I appreciate its speed, such as when I want to view an html file offline, I don't want it as the default browser. It, apparently, does not know that it's the default browser because it keeps asking me if I would like it to be so. So, my question is what file do I edit, and how, so that Internet Explorer launches, rather than Enigma, when I click on a link. I know, I could just uninstall and reinstall, but I thought I'd ask.
Thanks in advance,
Chas

Launch IE, go to Tools | Internet Options | Programs tab, and put a checkmark next to Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser.

Hello Zip,
Thanks so much for responding. I put a check in the "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" box, rebooted, and it was still Enigma which brought me here. So, unless you have any other ideas, (?) I guess I'll uninstall and reinstall.

Don't use it myself, but does Enigma have a tools/options or such menu? If so,there may be something you can shut off there?

Hello Ridgerunr,
Yes, that was the problem; there is a thing in the tools/options to click to make it the default browser, but unclicking it doesn't change anything. So I uninstalled, ran JV16 Power Tools and Reg Cleaner to get rid of the registry entries related to Enigma, and I will reinstall (because it is actually quite fast and handy for offline viewing). Thanks.

Did you try going to "Program Access and Defaults"? This should be in there on the Start Menu along with Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Printers and Faxes, etc. on the right side. If you don't have it, right click in the Start Menu area for "Properties", click Start Menu tab, then Customize, then Advanced. It's in there and you can get it to display. This works for me most of the time, although sometimes in strange, unexpected ways, like many of the blessings we have received from Bill.

Hi hansmax,
Thanks for the tip. I already uninstalled and reinstalled, relegating Enigma to second string. This machine has Win98, but I'm sure your tip will sometime come in handy on my XP machine, which is usually so much harder to tweak and customize. Go Bill!
