Adobe Acrobat/Designer Error

I recently edited a few .pdf's in Adobe Designer. Now when I try to combine them in Adobe Acrobat, it gives me this error:

"The file '[filename]' is protected. It cannot be used for this command."

I did not protect the files at any time. Does anyone know how to combine these back together.
