lagging at welcome screen
a few days ago, I got a 5G iPod. 60GB, video playback, it's pretty nice.
Installing everything for the iPod has become troublesome. In fact, at the moment iTunes does not work and I have no clue why. I am starting to think that I should reformat my windows drive or restore it; but it's been forever since I have done so. So, I would rather do this as a more last resort, seeing as I would have to back up many things that have changed since I last made an image.
I am thinking that I may also uninstall all the Apple stuff I was required to install for the iPod and see if that fixes it. It is not working anyway.
Anyways, the problem is that once Windows XP gets to the screen where it says "Welcome", which is also about the same time you would ussually log in, but I am the only user of this machine, so it automatically logs into my account. Well, once it gets to this screen, it just sits there and does nothing for like 2 minutes before finally starting explorer, ect. From then on, it's fine.
Is there anyway to find out what is causing this, other then just stabing at things at almost random to see if it fixes it? Like a log of what happends during this period..
Another problem is that, at the boot screen it takes about 50% longer, which means that the progess thing goes past about 1.5 times, so it's no big deal, but I would like to know what is causing this
thanx in advanced,
Byan
EDIT: (for the welcome screen-) none of this is caused by any programs that start-up with explorer or anything like that, there are only four programs that do so, and I specifically want each to start. It could have something to do with services starting up, but there are no uneeded services running. So, I am pretty sure this is not caused by any malicious software.
EDIT2: I also have defragmented the partition as well
