windows cd burning
i remember the good old days when i was able to drag and drop a file into an cd drive window, click on file, then burn. i have lost the ability to do this at some point and i have no idea why. i get a message saying that the source file is in use (which is a lie. windows hates me). i have tried with several different types of disc (cd-r, cd-rw, dvd-r, dvd-rw, cd+r) and none of these are working. any ideas?

Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services and make sure that "IMAPI CD-burning COM Service" is started and that it's startup type is set to Automatic.

its startup type 'was' set to manual. it is now on automatic. i have manualy started it too and i still get the same message. 'error copying file or folder:cannot copy mypicture:the requested resource is in use.' what tends to happen after this is that when i try to shut down my pc, i get an error saying that windows is working with a file and that it cant shut down until either windows finishes with the file or i manualy stop it. i cant actualy stop it as in the task manager there is no proccesses that i can see that would signify a file being copied and there is nothing on the desktop. i have to unplug my pc to shut down (gasp). please help.
