Can't boot from CD
Hi all
I have done it many times...Boot from the CD to format and re-install XP
My Boot sequence is set to CD-HDD-and Floppy
When the screen tells me to press any key to boot from CD I do just that, but it happyly keeps booting in to Windows
I need to format and install new, but it won't let me
Never happend before.
Please help
I have also set the boot sequence on all three choices to CD but still no go

Are you using a USB keyboard by any chance?

Hi 104456
Your question made me think, which is a little unusual at my age..LOL
I switched over to a PS/2 connection and the problem is solved.
Could you please tell me why? I thought USB is more reliable???? And why is it happening suddenly? Perhaps thats why I want to format?
Thanks for your help

Have a look in the bios to ensure the USB keyboard options are enabled to use in dos pre windows [I forget what the options called] its probably become unselected i.e. if you have reset the bios perhaps.
This can be a major problem on systems which do not support PS2 keyboards as you cannot select the option because the keyboard is unsupported.

Yep, 104456
you were right, the USB Keyboard Support was for some strange reason disabled.
All is ok now thanks to you. I can now do the tidious task of formatting an re-installing
Many thanks
