Would anyone have any suggestions as to how to resolve "bartshell" problem? I am having this annoyance since I signed up with Peoplepc and their tech-support are quite helpless. It just about prevents normal surfing.

I found a way to stop the annoying Bartshell error message pop-up.
Right Click My Computer, properties, advanced, error reporting, check disable error reporting, and uncheck but notify me when critical errors occur. Hit OK, and no more error messages. This works with Windows XP both home and professional versions, Windows 2000 is not the same and I haven't found a way to do that.

This will fix the problems with bartshell module
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en and select Windows Scripting 5.6 Release (in the right hand column), download and install it to your computer. This should solve your scripting errors.
Additionally, please make sure you have Internet Explorer Version 6.0 Service Pack 1 installed on your system. If you do not have this version of Internet Explorer, go to the following link and download the version of IE 6.0 SP 1 for the version of Windows on your computer:

Thanks for the suggestions, I've tried them all and others, the error (not the message) did not go away. The Peoplepc homepage and the acceleration feature will stop working every time the bartshell error happens.
If you've "tried them all and others", the next step would be to try PeoplePC's Tech Support. And if they can't help you solve the problem, I'd try a different ISP.
