I purchased WinXP Pro OEM just after it was released, and am now going to install it.
Will it be eligible for all the updates and SP1 & 2 just like the standard full version of XP?

Yes it is. OEM is what I use and it updates just fine.
Got a burner? If yes then get the SP2 and burn it to a cd.
Install Xp, then install the mobo drivers, then the video drivers. Now install SP2.
Now firewall, antivirus, etc before you get the updates. Once that is done. Make surethe firewall is active and then go get the updates. There are about 30 of tem.
OK, thanks Train.
I don't think this person has downloaded sp2 yet for her other compoot, so we can probably nail 2 birds at once this way.
Sounds like SP2 will do both updates SP1 and 2.
Works for me! :)
If you prefer you can slipstream SP2 onto a CD and install XP SP2 in one go. It save some disk space, as well as time. Here's how:
Creating a slipstreamed CD
Slipstreaming WinXP with SP2
Hi SS,
I may be using that for slip-streaming programs as well.
Since I work on single user units, they have taken somewhat to keeping a backup disk, and like the ability to just switch disks whenever there is a problem they can't handle.
Probably be using slip-streaming for VISTA in the near future though, since PowerQuest and company are now more concerned with keeping their yachts sailing in the right direction. :)
Thanks a bunch...
Yes, that is correct.Quote:
