Port Forwarding
Hi all
I am trying to configure me router to allow certain activities, like SSH, VNC and Shareaza. But it isnt working :(
What am I doing wrong?
Its a U.S. RoboticsĀ® Wireless Turbo Access Point & Router.
Its set up as DHCP, NAT...dunno what else you need to know...!
Options are: Source = LAN, WAN or * / Destination = LAN, WAN or * / Protocols = TCP, UDP, ICMP or * / Port Range
Thanks

Perhaps the instructions at the PortForward site can help.

That did the trick!
Thanks!!

Seems this thread is now reopened.
I have added a few port forwards, exactly like the ones that work. But they dont???
I.E FTP and GTK Gnutella work but VNC, SSH, Telnet dont.
Strange? I have added it all the same, to be safe I chose * where possible for protocols.
All these services work from the lappy when its IN the network. As soon as I try to access it from outside it dont work (apart from the 2 I mentioned).
Any clues?

Does your ISP (or anyone between you and your network) block or otherwise redirect those ports?

Nada.
I think I've figured it, though it still doesnt quite make sense.
On the US Robotics website, it states that to use PF you need static IP...fine. Thats what I have. Little further on, it states that the DHCP Server on the router has to be turned off...didnt know that bit. Mines still on.
So as soon as I get home I'mm turn it off and see what happens. But what still doesnt add up is that 2 PF's work...?
Will report back, hopefully with good news. I have also emailed USR's tech support to see what they say about it.
Regards
Hong
