ECROSS!!! HELP...lost my "router" Connections

Hi ECross,
Been a while...I lost me router connection as well as my wirless computer connection. Seems like the router "disappeared"? I had to direct connect to log on. However when I hook the router up, I loose my "hard" wired computer internet connection. I cant even use the 192.168.1.1 because my internet does not work thru the router. When I bypass the router, I cant log into it using the 192.168.1.1 because I set the router with extra protection by setting the security to only log in thru a hard wire connection? Like I said...HELP!!!! :eek:

Is there any info your looking for that might help you? Seems like ECROSS is not logged on right now.

Hi gbeato, what operating system are you using? Looking at the previous threads it appears you are running Windows XP. I assume you are still using the Linksys wrt54g router.

Have you tried using the online tool?

I am using that particular LINKSYS, and my OS is the winxp sp2, both the PC <hard wired thru router, no connection but now using w/out router> and Laptop <wireless, no connection at this time>.
The online tool, netset can not find the router. It seems like it "disappeared". The lights on the router do appear as normal.

I just followed your suggestion you sent via PM, unplugging the router and cable modem and wait 30 seconds.....IT WORKED!!!!!!!!
Ok, so I am not the guy that walks and away without trying to understand this...so I beg the question, why? Why would it simply stop working and unplug/plu makes it work again?

By the way, thank you once again for resolving my issues. These forums are incredible.

I cannot tell you why that happens. I have a home network and I run into occasionally connecivity problems with the router. Unplugging and wait 30 seconds seems to fix it. If you run into this trouble again, try this solution first.

This will be my first move anytime this happens. Thanks for the help.

Turning Off Router for "30 Seconds" help because...

Network Traffic due to uninterrupted flow of data is caused and once You Turn it Off and then Turn it On after 30 Seconds, It is like Re-booting the Router, Just like Re-booting computer whenever it Hangs-UP.

:confused: :confused: Why ask why!! No, seriously, too often that's the way things work on a computer. You just end up scratching your head. :confused:

Routers just have a way of "forgetting" what they're supposed to be looking for.

The other thing I have found myself having to do at times is to log in to the router (usually 192.168.0.1) and resetting it.

Glad it worked. This can be very frustrating. :rolleyes:
