New Mail account
I recently set up a "hotmail" email account.
I can access the account and my email after entering my user name and password from away from home fine. I cannot access the "hotmail" email account from home with my Dial-Up connection through Compuserve.
No message is displayed, and blank page with the hourglass forever.
Why?
Is there a workaround or patch I need? At home, on the Internet Explorer Help menu, my version of Internet Explorer reports as 5.00.2314.1003IS. What should I do?

Not familiar with compuserve, but do know that Hotmail has problems with some of the services e.g., AOl. Found this:

May want to check compuserve page for help on setting up hot mail.

Thanks, I'll try the suggestions at the link.

I have not tried the suggestions.
I really don't use Outlook for email and don't want to start.
I use the Compuserve E-mail system, so don't need it.
I really just want to access hotmail.com mail from home within my browser.
I was wondering if setting up an additional hotmail.com mail account from home would solve the problem. The other one was set up while away from home.

I tried the steps in the link but hit a snag.
Quoting from the article below:
Click HTTP in the My incoming mail server is box. If Hypertext Transfer
Protocol (HTTP) is not an available choice; you are using an earlier version of Outlook Express that does not support Hotmail.
To upgrade your version of Outlook Express, go to Windows update on your computer.
HTTP is not a choice..............................
Go to Windows update on my computer? Where is that on a Windows 95 system?

Here is the Windows 95 update site. Unfortunately, The download link for IE (and OE) is for IE 6.0 SP1, which is not supported on Windows 95 per requirements found at this site. All the sites I found after googling windows 95 redirected to windows update. Basically, it seems you have 3 choices if you want to upgrade Outlook Express. Upgrade to Windows 98SE, which I found auctions for at Ebay. Track down an ISP (other than AOL or Compuserve!!) software cd, that has version IE and OE 5.0 or preferably 5.5, which you can explore and manually install after finding msie5setup.exe. I was going to recommend trying Mozilla Thunderbird for email, along with Firefox. Neither of those are supported on Windows 95 either. Ditto Eudora. So, it seems you are between a rock and a hard place, where the only practical solution may be to upgrade to Windows 98SE. So, I guess you gotta ask yourself if the machine is worthy of the cash required to upgrade to 98SE. If not, now may be the time to seriously consider acquiring or building a new system. This may be the most longterm cost effective solution, unfortunately it is also the most expensive. Don't know if this helps, but my 2 cents worth.

Thanks for your tips.
I don't understand why reading hotmail from my home computer is such a headache. I know it should be available somehow...after all, a few years back nobody had Windows 98.I'll keep trying.
