Fan troubles
My fan inside my PC is driving me crazy. I am not sure if it is the processor fan or the vid card fan. Either way I have to replace one or both of them soon. If it is the vid card can it be removed and replaced and if it is the Processor fan that came on my P4 processor will that be easy to replace as well?

Yes either one should be easy to replace. Normally they're simply screwed on with 4 screws, certainly a stock P4 fan will be.

More than likely the video card fan. I have yet to see a cpu fan go bad, although I'm sure it does happen. I have seen, and heard, a few video card fans go bad.
Check out Newegg . They have a good selection.

Thanks guys. I have never had a CPU fan go bad either so my guess is that it will be the Vid card fan for sure. I may have a old vid card with a fan laying around that has a fan i can swap until my new fan comes in.

You could use a cardboard roll like those in a toilet roll [empty of course :)] to use like a stethascope and diagnose the area of the noise within the case.
When you check out the prices for a replacement be sure to look at the DB [decibel] rating given for the fan and go for as low a number as possible.

Well it was the video card fan, I swapped it with one off my old video card and now it is silent again. I did have to switch the pins on the fan power cord but that was no biggie.

Those little fans can sure make a lot of noise when they go bad...very annoying.
Glad you were able to recycle and get it going.;)
