I bought a bunch of thermaltake fans,

if they are set at full speed, they run way too loudly.., I swear I bet that if my new computer didn't weigh 50 pounds it probably would've taken off...
all the fans came with thermal sensor.., but I have no clue where to place them...
where should I put them?

Had some similar thermaltake fans myself [with the thermisters attached] and I ended up removing all three as they are just too loud but if you want to try put the thermisters in areas of the PC that produce a lot of heat which the fan covers i.e. graphics area,harddrive area,processor area
right now I have them on my antec case, on a cable labled "FAN ONLY", on this cable the fans are only capable of going 1800 RPMS, in which case, they are very quiet..
when idling the CPU heatsink, vidcard fan area, HDD's were all cold.., its only been on for an hour tho.., and only surfing the internet..
the hotest thing in the case is the PSU..
tommorow after I go to a LAN party, I am going to have to see if anything is hot...
I am building a system with 6 fans and figured that it might be noisy too. I was thinking of fitting this front panel fan controller. Something to think about. You can also get simple speed controllers that go in line and mount inside the pc

I wouldn't use the thermal sensors myself as they would control the fans speed and I don't like the idea of not being in control of something like that ... but if you think those are loud check out the delta fans at sidewindercomputers.com ... I have one on my northbridge that runs @ 10,000rpms max ... I can't hear myself think at the top speed ... but still even reduced it to 8,000 rpms still cools better than anything(max temp is about 29c load during folding@home)
There's a saying that "you can never have too many fans". Unfortunately that saying is wrong. Having the proper number of the proper size and properly placed is always best.
Yes I may have too many fans but maybe running them all at a slow rate will work well and get a good general airflow across the 7 bay case
