Corrupted boot floppy
Trying to boot off the set of four boot floppies created off the Win2K CD the system reports that "file asc3350p.sys is corrupt". I have reformatted the floppies and recreated the boot floppiesa again but still get the same error. does anyone know where I could download the file? The only place I could find wants $10 US. what a ripoff!

An alternative way of getting to Windows Setup is to boot up with a Win98 Startup floppy with CDROM support, then navigate to the i386 folder on the WinXP CD and run Winnt.exe. That will start the normal Windows Setup.
You can get a Win98 startup disk from the same site that 104456 linked to.

Hi Calpitor,I have that file on floppy 3 of my set of 4 2k ERD, don't know if my copy will work for you, if you like PM me with your Email and I will send it to you. About 16kb.
Should have mentioned you can make a single floppy to start an existing OS both 2k and XP. Take one formatted( Format A:/u ) floppy and from the existing OS copy Boot.ini , NTDetect.com and NTLDR to it.

This may sound like from out of left field..
But the error may have nothing to do with the file itself.. it could be a memory problem..
if the machine has more than 1 stick of memory .. remove the extras and see what happens..
Had a similar fault with win XP.. dis-similar memory types
just a thought..

Strangely enough after one last ditch effort and trying again I was able to get the system to boot off the disks, create the partitions and format the system. Everything looks pretty sweet so far. The things you'll go through for a family member.
