How to find location of all e-mail messages in Win98???
thanks
Look here for Outlook Express:
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Identities\{B649D360-3E47-11D6-8F10-00C0F0366644}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
MikeKea--They are the .dbx folders. But you will not be able to read the individual messages.
To do that you could use a tool like DBXtract

But what do you want to do when you find the .dbx folders?
Hi Welshjim
thank you for respons. Can't boot HDD with win98 on, so i attached the HDD on my XP PC. I saved e-mail addresses but can't save messages.
MikeKea--I am not sure I understand the present situation. Can you not find the email messages when you are hooked to the WinXP PC? If so, do a search for [b]*.dbx.
Win98 and WinXP put the email messages in slightly different places. (Both are called the Store Folder. You find the store folder's location by clicking OE Tools|Accounts|Maintenance tab|Store Folder. ski told you where it is for Win98.) And since you are using a Win98 HD, the data should be in the Win98 Store Folder. Once you find the .dbx files, you should be able to use DBXtract to export (or Save) the email message files.
Or for free, the official MS procedure is here.

P.S. In WinXP, the Store Folder is usually C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{8D32DF8B-D3B8-4783-A0C5-FE37E2FC8659}\Microsoft\Outlook Express. However, since the data is on a Win98 hard drive, I would not think it would be there.
