can anyone tell me a little bit about the : Intel(R)storage utility?

Never heard of it. Do you have a link? Have you looked on www.intel.com ?

This is a utility for managing serial ata raid configurations on boards with newer intel chipsets. It gets installed as part of installing the Intel Application Accelerator driver set. Its associated with Intel's "Matrix Storage Technology".
