I have Roadrunner high speed cable on my WinXP computer and a Wireless adapter on my Win200 computer in the other room. The guy who installed my Hardware router and my wireless adapter said that every so often to unplug something on my Router and Cable modem for 10 min. or so, this being due to the speed of my internet will slow down over time. It has a bit and so does anyone know what cables to unplug to help speed up things?

What's the make and model of the router you have? Some routers have a WAN port that is used to connect a cable modem to the router. You can unplug the cable connecting to it and plug it back in.

There is multiple revisions for that router but that really doesn't matter. Both of those routers have a WAN port. Since your router has a WAN port. Unplug that cable that connects from the Cable modem to that port on the router for a few seconds then plug it back in.
I did what you said and it definitely helped.
May I ask some other questions. I have the router and modem on my main Xp puter and a Airlink wireless adapter on my Win2000 Pro puter in the other room. Now I or at been told that it may be a little slower than the XP. But on my Win2000 I originally had NIS 2004 on it, and man did it ever slow it down. So I took it off, and just added a free AV -Avast4 and have had no problems. But this weekend a relative sent me a disk with
Kazaa lite on it and a program for IP addresses and I have been using it ok. After I use Kazaa and this IP program, I turn them off and my Internet was slower. This morning I used Regedit and found quite a few remnants of Symantec and got rid of them.
Now I have avast, Adaware6, Spybot and of course I have Roadrunner highspeed and they have their own AV, Firewall that i get thru them. Is this enough protection?

Most routers offer basic protection that blocks incoming traffic on the local area network. That doesn't protect you from outgoing traffic. If you have a personal firewall, that is protecting you from inbound and outgoing traffic. That is enough protection. Your router might have some features that can protect your network. Take a look at the documentation.
