I've heard there will be a patch for Norton 2004...
My Norton Corp version gets updates ok.
Here are a couple of items from Symantec's Q&A about SP2.
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/sp2/faq.html
Q: Why does the Windows Security Center say that the status of my Norton security product is "unknown."
A: Your Norton security products contain tamper protection features that prevent malicious code from determining their status. This tamper protection also prevents the Windows Security Center from determining the status of your Norton security products. Shortly after Microsoft releases Service Pack 2, Symantec will make a correction available through LiveUpdate. This correction will allow the Windows Security Center to correctly identify the status of your Norton security products.
Norton AntiVirus
Installing Service Pack 2 will not affect Norton AntiVirus. The Windows Security Center will be aware that you have Norton AntiVirus installed, but it will not be able to determine its working status due to Symantec's tamper-protection technology.
Norton SystemWorks
Installing Service Pack 2 will not affect Norton SystemWorks. The Windows Security Center will be aware that you have Norton AntiVirus installed but it will not be able to determine its working status due to Symantec's tamper-protection technology.

I have a similar issue with McAfee!! It just hangs when I attempt to update. I can't find any patches or fixes.
robotfighter, you should start your own thread. Have you tried a repair?
Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Scroll down to your McAfee anti-virus program and click Remove. When it opens, choose Repair and let it go through the process. Reboot. Try again to update.
I went to the recommended Symantec support site printed out the instructions and followed them to the letter... It was time consuming but fixed the problem and everything is back to normal... Thanks :DQuote:

Glad you got it, bojovan. It's good to know when one of those Symantec Knowledge Base articles actually works. ;)
