We have a problem getting Yahoo! email to send. We can read the email, but cannot send or save the emails. We have Win XP. Is there a conflict with Yahoo! & Win XP? The Yahoo! email accounts works fine on other computers not running XP. We are waiting on a new video card, would a bad card affect Yahoo email? Thanks for any info.
First off, are you talking about downloading email using Yahoo? Because by itself, Yahoo is purely web based email. The only thing it's likely to conflict with is your web browser, but it works fine with XP.
Also, the video card would only affect the display from your computer - it shouldn't affect Yahoo.
Also, what do you mean by "save the emails" ?
One suggestion I could make is to look at your browser properties between the XP computer and the other computers. Is it in high-security mode? Have you turned off cookies? etc. These could be affecting Yahoo email sending.
My guess is you are using either Outlook or Outlook Express to view and 'save' emails? Is this correct? If that is the case, you have to make sure to configure the application for Yahoo. Otherwise, if you are simply using Internet Explorer (or some other web browser), Yahoo will work with pretty much any operating system.
Thanks for the reply. Actually I can download and read mail from Yahoo, it is the reply(send) or the save as draft feature that does not work on the XP system. All other features with Yahoo works fine, just cannot reply, forward or save as draft with XP. Thanks for the help. BTW, Outlook and hotmail works fine.
Okay, so you have purchased the POP3 email capability with Yahoo. You're ahead of me, so unfortunately I cannot say for sure. I am thinking about getting POP3 with Yahoo, and I AM running XP, so if I find anything for sure I'll post back.
When you say it's working with other computers not running XP, are they still using the same ISP as the XP machine? Because I looked through some Yahoo Mail help and all I could find is that some ISPs require authentication which may have trouble with Yahoo.
Maybe you want to look at the Yahoo! Mail Help page on POP3 problems.
i have 3 email accounts with my isp with pop outlook thing and i have nerdshack.com with it too
with nerdshack i had to use port 3535 because the firewall blocks port 25 i think
if you have yahoo pop mail you can still acess the same mail at a browser at
www.yahoo.com
Thanks guys for the info. I cannot reply to email in Yahoo on the machine with XP, most of the time, however if I shut down and reboot it seems to work for a short time. I find this to be very annoying, especially after I type a reply and realize it will not send. It will not allow me to save as draft or copy/paste. So I lose the info when I have to reboot. Yahoo can offer no explanation for why it does that. The XP machine does not stay on all the time, so have no clue as to why it does this. Again, Thanks.
