Have you run any spyware programs or checked for hijackers, or?
In other words, what have you done to try and solve this sluggishness?
I have done a XP repair, defragged, and run repair utilities thru Norton SystemWorks.
So you haven't ran any spyware removal programs on the off chance this is spyware making your computer sluggish? Maybe you should. Get the two programs below and update each one, then have them scan your computer, after scanning fix what ever they find.
Spybot Search and Destroy
And Ad-aware
I ran the 2 programs and it did help some. Is there anything else that I can try :)Quote:

Hi,
Well the next things I would try are
1. RAM check. If you have more than 1 stick, take one out and see if it runs better. Then swap them over and try again with just the other one.
Otherwise run one of these free programs
memtest86 http://www.memtest86.com/
Windows Memory Diagnostic http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
2. Download
Hijack This http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/
Make a special folder to download it to. Set it to "Scan" and then to create its "Log". This will be long, but copy all of it into Notepad and post it back here to be checked.
Elaine:)
There is another problem. It says I need java virtual machine on alot of web sites. it has been freezing up online alot latley. it is faster but some bugs need to be worked out.
Have you done the suggestion by Dunedin? When hijackthis is finished scanning its scan button will turn into a "Save log" button, click on this and it will open in Notepad, once in Notepad go to Edit in the menu bar and select all, then copy and paste the log into this thread.
If your computer doesn't have java installed, (found here: IE, Tools, internet options, advanced tab, scroll to find java) if it's not there, download it from here:
