I Hate Verizon!
verizon is now one of my greatest foes at this point... first off... their dsl service crashes every 10 mins and lasts 5 mins... ive had to live with this for the last four months and after calling tech support 13 times, i am still extremely dissatisfied, to no prevail
i am no idiot when it comes to computers... im 14 and i already have my A+ cert. and im currently going for the cisco cert. so i know whats going on already.... but of course in the eyes of verizon i dont know a d**n thing
after getting dsl i bought a linksys router so i could network it to the 3 computers on the bottom floor of my house (the other 4 are wireless). the issue i am having with verizon is the horrific connection quality. every 15 mins. the connection is totaly disabled and not one packet is traveling inbound or outbound (i checked with ethereal) and this lasts for about 5 mins. every time
like i said... i already know whats going on... there is somthing wrong with my dsl modem.... i have come to this conclusion based on the fact that both routers i own are having the exact same issue.. and what are the chances that two entirely different routers have the exact same problem???
and before you ask... yes... i am sure that all the options in my router configuration are correct
i called verizon and reported my conclusion and it is quite obvious that the tech support is reading things offf a screen and probably doesnt even know what the bios is, and these rambling idiots, threw out my findings faster than a jackrabbit on a hot date
all i want to know is am i correct in my ussumption that it is the dsl modem or am i an ignorant bufoon like verizon implied that i am?
PS... NEVER get verizon

The only thing you don't say is whether you have tested coming directly from the modem in to a pc (no wireless, no routers). How is the connection then? Same problem? If so then by default that eliminates conclusively routers, wireless cards, house cabling, or whatever. If the connectin is good though, then it pretty much says the modem (and verizon's signal) is fine.

Does every other (non-ADSL) device on the line have a DSL filter attached?
