Video Studio 7
I,m trying to transfer home movie from analog camera via capture card to HDD. Problem occurs when i try to set up parameters in Video Studio 7:
CAPTURE tab
Duration: 00:00:00:0
Format: AVI, DV, MPEG, VCD, SVCD, DVD, WMV.......which one to select
Capture folder is OK
Capture Options is OK
Video Capture Property Settings:
Video format:
Use Software compression (tick --yes or no)
Compression: RGB 24, VQC1, VQC2, .............which one
Frame size: 160x120 (default), 240x180, 320x240, 352x288, 640x480.......which one

If I read your question correctly, you do not have a problem with the software, you simply do not know how to set the parameters?
If this is the case I'm sure you can get plenty of advice. What you need to expand on is what you are aiming for. Basically everything boils down to high quality = better picture = lots of Mb of storage = less on the hdd. You may also want to consider burning to dvd in the future. Hdd space is eaten up quickly by video files. Will you want to be able to play the footage on your tv using a standard dvd player?

The links you posted gives some idea of what is involved for MikeKea. I saved for my reference too. However, until MikeKea responds it is impossible to know what the target format is going to be (and aren't there just too many!). Small WMV files to view on the pc and to share with family and friends, through to fully authored dvds for tv viewing. Another minor issue is that MikeKea's native video format will be 720x576, 25fps PAL (Australia).
