New breed of Windows. Is it 98 or Me?

Hi all, One of my friends upgraded from Windows 98 to Me. Well I know everyone says to a clean install instead. I told him to do the same. Well he didn't feel like changing none of his settings. Windows installed fine and everything. And I went over to his house and notice something very strange. His pc was a mix between windows 98/Me. The icons were 98. The sounds was Me. And had the darker gray color to the task bar. It had all the new features with Windows Me. Except I couldn't find Windows Restore any where. Then on some software where it tells you what is in the machine. The Os would sometimes register as 98 then sometimes Me. The funny part it was really stable. I have no idea what went wrong but it sure was funyy. I didn't know what to call it. I guess he could call it Windows 99:D He bought a new pc since then but he is going to leave it alone and see how long it last.

Download Aida32 and see what it says.

I got him to download it. It shows up as 98. Its a weird problem but he is going to reformat the machine becuase his friend needs a pc for his sons school work.
