I don't know exactly what I want to ask here.
I had cable internet with a local company working through the local tv cable company. Yesterday the tv cable company (Customer Service is in Texas) took control and there are several urs's I cannot connect to.
I don't know how these things work but they don't have it fixed by now and it does no good bugging Customer Service
Guess what I want to know is there another way of getting to (this is just one of them) the Washington Times newspaper on line.
Try http://161.58.83.20/ and see if you can reach it.
No go, there't something that's not connected somewhere that I just don't understand how it works.
That change shouldn't have an effect on just a few sites.

That is pretty unusual. Here's a couple of things to try..
First go to a command (dos) prompt (start>programs>command prompt) and type tracert 161.58.83.20 then hit enter.
See if it traces or starts to trace the path to that address and let us know what happens.
Also try this page http://161.58.83.20/world/20040401-115503-6096r.htm
It's just a random link inside the Watimes using the same IP number rather than the URL.
If you do talk to the cable company ask them if they're using a caching proxy... if they are and it's not working properly then that could cause that problem.
Tried tracert and it gets 6 hops then "request timed out".
That link won't get it either. Guess I'll have to call them again, not that it will do any good.
