IDE n ATA?
Hi Folks, Just a little query for ya........Not sure why I not noticed this before......All My Other Probs are Sorted...in it Great!!....
On Start-Up I noticed that my "Pri Master" is LBA ATA 100 (that be correct) "Pri Slave" LBA ATA 100 (that also be correct) "Secondary Slave"PIO 4 (DVDRom Drive)(will settle for that. because in properties it says Ultra 2)...But my "Sec Slave" ATA 33" (that be my Lite-On CDRWriter)....Should that be ATA 66 or better still ATA 100...Are All Writers put on ATA 33?....If it should be higher, would it be the Cable that's causeing it!!??.......Or is it because of the DVDRom?
Do Not Be SHY.....Answers Here PLEASE_______Oh Yea!.....
THANKS......Dennis...

If the liteon burner is showing up as ata33 (or udma mode 2) then that is correct. Few if any dvd/cd readers/writers support ata66 (udma mode 4). And that's not a problem as none of the fastest drives available today push the transfer rates provided by ata33.

Full ATA/33 transfer speeds are the equivalent of a 220x CD drive.
There's no reason transfer-speed-wise for any CDROM to be above PIO4.
