Google grows in yet another direction
Is Google getting out of control?
I would say I agree with a lot of the comments made on both these sites. But is there a better alternative out there that is as good as Google used to be?

In a way i agree
Google has changed
for the 4 years ive been using it, there is a difference in search result
more ads and quite a bit of junk.
But i still swear by it, i have not found a replacement that is as good, and i wont for a good time to come.
Until it really effects me, then im sticking with it.
Just my opinion
:)
I've noticed that sometimes I end up having to resort to other search engines recently to find what I need. Sad isnt it?
Yeah, there is some truth to it. Google is still great though. I guess we'll have to wait for M$ to get into that territory until someone will have enough money to make a search engine worthwhile.
I agree. When I first heard that Microsoft was working on a Search engine I wasn't very impressed or interested. Now, with Google becoming increasingly annoying to use I'm looking forward to Microsoft's effort.
I also agree that Google is still the best, but I'd love to find another one that's as good or better.
;) Don't you mean that Microsoft is shopping for a Seach Engine that they can gobble up? I could just imagine the hysteria this could create. Like "Microsoft's web crawler is just a new way for them to line up their next acquisition!" or "Microsoft has found a new way to track your web activity!"Quote:

Welcome to GoogluMS :Sponsored by Billy Bob  :D
You want a choice of search engines? Try here . Not my work - produced as a "labour of love" by a guy I know ...

I often use this one..

Google, although I still sometimes use it, has become useless for finding many things that are computer related... You can still get info if the search is for something like an error message or specific problems like a virus if you know the virus' actual name but getting info on broader topics like hard drives or modems or laptops gets nothing but hundreds of ads to buy them.
Same thing with almost anything that could be consumer related- ie- bought online.. if the question has to do with something that can be purchased then getting technical or problem solving details on it is almost impossible without spending a lot of time narrowing down the search parameters which means you have to already know a fair bit about the subject you're looking up.
Howdy:
I use www.dogpile.com as a first choice for a search engine. Hardly use Google anymore at all.

I've noticed the ads too. I ignore them. For my money, Google's still the best search engine.
Like any good tool, the more familiar you become with it, the easier it is to use and the better the end result.

Memorize it.

Thanks Vern. I'm quite familiar with how to refine searches with Google, necessity being the mother of invention and all that, but you have to admit the more Google expands into newer areas i.e. poop-up blocker, adserver, and now e-mail service, the more the search capabilities have become a paler reflection of what it used to be. I'm not saying that I have found something better yet but I'm still looking and hoping.
I'm a HUGE supporter of Google Adwords. I pay Google every month for the business it brings me.
I also know a number of Webmasters who use Google to generate money for their efforts. I have yet to hear to much bad about that program.
As a user of Google I'm not sure what your problem with Google is... Frankly I don’t see what your issues are. If I fail to find the info I'm looking for I consider it my problem and not Googles. Since it can only use the words I put in to help me find what I'm looking for...
Basicly everying needs to be paid for somehow and asking them to restrict their ablity to create profit is insane.
