Linksys PC Card problems
I have a wireless network setup in my home. It has been working just fine for a couple of years now, but recently I find that I have to restart the laptop several times before the PC card will connect. Once the connection is made, everything is OK.
On power up, the red light comes on (blinks, which is normal), but the little green light pulsates (on and off in about 1 sec. intervals). When this happens, I know the connection hasn't happened. If the green light comes on and flickers really fast, I know the connection is OK.
I normally have to let the machine warm up for about 15 to 30 min. before a reboot will get the card working properly. This morning it took about 5 hours before I finally got a connection!
The PC card is about 2 1/2 years old. I suspect the card is "going South" but I was wondering if anyone has experienced a similar problem or could suggest a solution.
I recently had the laptop in for repairs, the power plug at the computer end needed soldering. It was shortly after this that the PC card problem started. Don't know if the 2 are related.
The machine is a Compaq Presario Model 1277, AMD-K6 128MB

I would try another wireless network card.

Yea, I think you're right. Hoping there may be something else to try before buying a new card.
I had to replace the Linksys wireless router earlier this year, just after the warranty was up. Maybe it's time to try a different vendor, like D-Link. Will a D-Link PC card work with a Linksys router?

Yes, it doesn't matter what brand. Any network card will work. Purchasing another wireless network card would be my first recommended solution before investing in another router. I don't beleive it's the router. First, try another network card and see if you are still having problems. If so, then post back giving us more details and what operating systems you are using.

Thanks for the advise, ecross. I'll "invest" in a new card.
