CD quality

I noticed that CD quality over the years has gone way down..., now if you drop a CD on the flow it goes bad sometimes..., it used be that you could leave them all over an they would be fine....

is there a brand or type of CD-r/rw that are better quality??

I heard that black CD-R's are better quality (side with data it black), but I have no idea what to believe

basically I need some good quialty ones to put the SuSE linux OS on and I dont want it to go bad...,

aint that the truth....they also seem "thinner" to me....I've got some of those first run CD-RW discs that could probably stop a bullet!

It's probably a marketing ploy.

When CDs first came out they were touted as being indestructible when compared to Vinyl.

Why buy Vinyl that can scratch and warp when you can have the new indestructable CD ???

It's the media of the 21st Century !!

Now they are thinnner and scratch relatively easier.

So when the new storage media comes out they'll be able to say "New 22nd century media that can't scratch like CDs".

so is there any diffenence in quality depending on CD-r or on CD-RW or are there us there a specific brand that seems to be better then the others??,

right now I have some super cheep khyphermart CD-Rs and I dont want to put something on a CD that isn't going to last.., although I dont think I have lost one of those CD's yet...

umm, nix...didnt you miss en era or 2? what happend to 8 tracks and cassettes?

I remember seeing an ad in one of my magazienes that was selling some really heavy duty cd's. they were supposedly "unscratchable". If I come accross the name of those dang things i'll post a link :)

Maxell is probably the best brand when it comes to strength. If you pay $0.10 for a CD-R, you're going to get a $0.10 CD-R. There are plenty of good ones out there -- they just cost a little more :)
