My PC has really loud fans..., I haven't really done anything about it because it is not really that important but I figured it was time to around to it....
also I am pretty sure it is not my power supply fan..., it sounds like it is comming from the one underneath it and I know that the front one it loud
SO, I need one for the front and one for the back...

I have had good experience with SUNON fans and ENERMAX fans, especially some with thermal control.
Check www.nexfan.com , also www.newegg.com . Make sure you look for ball bearing vs. sleeve bearing - those run quieter.
Alternatively check if the current ones are mounted tight - not rattling against the case. Also, you could remove the little center sticker, but a tiny drop of oil (like WD40) in it and replace the sticker.
How many hard drives do you have? Mine contribute to at least 50% of my case's noise. Next time I upgrade, I'm going to make it a point to get ONE drive. The disks are loud just idling. When I put my machine to sleep, the noise drops considerably. Another 25% of my noise comes from air movement, which really can't be avoided.
Most cheap fans are somewhere between 25-35dBa. I've seen some that are 40 or 50 (yeep!). I would look for something around 20dBa. You can pay a lot and get something that's more like 16dBa, but I don't think it's really worth it. You'll find that the fans themselves don't contribute as much to the computer's noise as you think.
Personally, I've given up on the whole noise issue altogether. I have 6 fans in all, and once I get a new video card, I'll have 7. My case sounds like a 747, and there's not a darn thing I can do about it :)
80mm Sunon ball bearing vanilla flavor work fine. Just be sure to get low wattage('bout' 2.1) for silence. They still run at about 2,800Rpm and cool well.
Sorry,,have to disagree with using WD-40 to oil the bearings. It will gum-up at high speeds/heat. Would suggest you use a good machine oil instead. Believe it or not,one of the best is 'Hoppe's' lubricating oil. High viscosity,but won't gumup. They recommend it for electric motors and so do I...:)

I like enermax I found good deals on ebay for 4 packs
just make sure you note shipping charges
I don't know about led fans I'm not into that
but the newer enermax fans with sensors are quiet but I think they can get louder if stressed.
Sunon's are quite good... Panaflo's are also very good. But have heard that Pabst makes the quietest fans around. NMB's are excellent also...

I have one of those it has a large 6" fan blowing up through the bottom of the power supply out to the rear of the case and is a whole lot quieter than a standard supply fan.

Depends on your budget really.You could fit temperature controlled fans or even water cooling.
Even just changing from the standard 4" to a 6" fan will reduce noise due to the fan having a lower speed for the same volume of air moved.

Ditto on the hard drive noise issue. I too soon realized it's not the case fans that are making the biggest noise - it's the hard drives spinning.
The other thing I noticed is that my CPU heatsink fan was way louder than the case fans too. The Zalman coolers look awesome :) but what helped me a lot was to switch my CoolerMaster 60mm heatsink fan (running at a loud 5000 RPM) to a generic 80mm case fan (running around 2300 RPM). From CompUSA, I got a little plastic bracket that allows you to mount an 80mm fan to a 60mm slot - cost me $5. It adds to the heatsink total height by about 2", but I found it cools as effectively but is much quieter.
You can get harddrive enclosures or rubber mounting mats to remove noise if its a big issue but like you've found the smaller the fan the faster it has to turn and hence the more noise it makes.

It has all sorts of tips for quieting your pc, including fans, HDs, coolers, etc for sale that have all been tested and rated for how quiet they are. They also have baffles they sell for your case, which contain even more of the noise.
This has done a good job in overall noise reduction in my mod.

I would like something simular of to this only it would monitor the heat and adjust the speed accordingly..., I dont want to mess with the PSU and how do I get the CPU fan off if it is thermal paisted to the CPU?Quote:
