Hello. Windows 95 wont keep my setting on my modem profile to keep error correction on. It keeps losing it like a few minutes after I leave the screen. And yes, this is with the computer still on and running. Wnat would cause this to happen?

what do you mean? maybe you have too little space in harddrive
Its in the hardware profile. Under modem properties. Then you go to advanced and it gives you the flow control Xon/Xoff or hardware option and then gives you an option to disable error correction.
But now its doing just the opposite. I disable error correction and a few minutes later its back up.
How can I tell which setting to use on the flow control? I assumed since my modem was hardware based I should use the hardware flow control.
Another thing. The COM port to choose on my hardware profile is Com 3. I'm suppose to make its setting match my modem settings? I think my modem is using Com 2. Why would it matter what Com3 settings are put at? Its not even being used as far as I can tell.
The modem settings are dictated by your Internet Service Provider, each is different. Go to their page for the settings.
Most use Hardware control, but error control is dependent on your provider. And your provider could use it as a default, therefore, the modem changes once it talks to your provider.
Just change the settings on the COM port the modem is using.
