I am using Ghost 2003 and I would like to know if it is possible to backup my Notebook to my Desktops DVD-R Writer using my Wireless Network. This would save me allot of regular CD-R Disk... If this is possible could someone give me a detailed description, I am very new at this...:confused:
Yes, ghost can write to network drives via a LAN, but it's something i found difficult so can't advise... i just ghost in the usual way (partition to image) and then transfer it Laptop to desktop via the LAN and burn it with Nero... does the same job, just takes a little longer...
But if u only have one partition and no CD-RW on the Laptop then ghosting directly across the LAN may be your only option... hopefully someone can help, i'd be interested too.

If u can't get anywhere with this, i guess it'll be easier to partition the laptop and do it as i do.

I decided to partition my notebook and do as suggested but I have a problem. I installed Partition Magic 8.0 on my notebook, XP Home, and no matter what I try it will not partition my HD. I keep getting a 1513 error. I did the suggested fix and it still will not work... Any suggestions here or should I post it somewhere else:confused:
Try using the PM boot disk to partition the drive it usually solves problems like those.I have had a problem with PM with the manufacturers hibernation drive on a laptop before now.
My notebook does not have a floppy drive and I don't know if it's possible to make a bootable PM CD?Quote:

It is possible it will just take a little extra work.
You basically install a boot image to the bootable area of a CD which will be seen as the A drive.
Any good burning software should be able to do this i.e. Nero:

I guess I'll have to give up, something I hate to do! I have tried everything and nothing works. My last attempt to make a CD to work failed I must be doing something wrong. I remember reading somewhere that PM is tricked by something in XP I only wish I knew how to get it to work. After awhile it gets to be a challenge and I hate to give up:mad:

This is the next version but it is a similar process.
Select bootable CD then select the source of the files [up to 1.44Mb]i.e. a widows boot floppy which will enalbe you to make the cd act as a boot disk.
Then load the rest of the required files to the cd you just need to boot from the CD and using DOS change to the CD drive and run the program.
I can't win...
I think I got the boot information on a CD Disk but now I can't get my Sotec 820P Notebook, OS Win XP Home, to boot from the CD drive, It won't even make an attempt to look in the drive... Totally:confused:
I purchased a USB cable that will let me connect my notebook and desktop together. I would like to know if it will be possible for me to ghost image my notebook HD to my desktop DVD+R using this cable and the peer-to-peer configuration in ghost. This would save me disk usage. It would take up to 9 disk to ghost image to my notebook CD-R.
