Every time I boot up the system, I get a pop-up message from Mcafee viruscan which says "c:\Program files\support.com\client\IServer\server.vbs" It states that there is 'suspicious scripting' and the scripting has been stopped and then gives several options - including, let the scripting go this time. Question I have is - should I do some special action to go into regedit - or what? I can't tell exactly what file or message content that the pop up is referring to. Any help appreciated. Norm69
From what a quick search returned, it looks as if Support.com is spyware:

or it may be a part of @home's support.
I'd recommend downloading and running both AdAware and SpyBot. I use both because they each find different types of spyware.

As Cliffh rightly posted, this software is regarded as spyware. It is part of Sony's Vaio support agent and it is not required if you do not wish to use the Vaio support agent. If you want to disable it, go to Start > Run and type:
msconfig
then OK. Click on the Startup tab and uncheck ZtgServerSwitch or any combination of support.com\client\IServer\server.vbs that might be present. Reboot and all should be well. :D
First, thanks to Styx, Clifh and AnnMarie for their suggestions. I downloaded AVG anti-virus and may use that - but there are some secondary programs with Mcafee that are helpful, so, I am thinking about it.
Secondly, I ran msconfig as suggested by AnnMarie and unchecked the spyware that was causing the pop up - and now no more pop up.
Lastly, Cliffh was right - it was a Sony VAIO component and I will use his suggestion to review that. Although there are some other - similar sites, in my opinion, this site is the most helpful of its kind on the internet.
