Outlook Express can't send HTML

I got requested to fix a machine with OE 6 that couldn't send mail.

After some experimentation, I found that only when using HTML format would the "send" fail by timing out. This took awhile to find because if I only sent a single word in the message, it would send. However, if I tried an entire paragraph, I got the time out message.

A repair of IE didn't give results I needed and the local ISP said they weren't having any problems with their mail server.

I'm at a loss as I've always used plain text. Any ideas on some things to try?

Problem solved. ZoneAlarm was blocking it.

Hi glad you have the problem sorted.I spent some time trying to come up with some answers,all to no avail. ZA strikes again.

jenae, that's the second time that particular machine with it's ZA install has caught me.

The problem originated because our ISP switched our IP range. All the machines have IP's assigned by the ISP.

Interestingly, Norton Firewall (on all the other machines) never gives us any problems.

First chance I get this week, ZA is history on that machine.

A word of advice...use ZA's uninstaller for the best shot at getting rid of it completely.

Miz, thanks for the link. I've uninstalled ZA a couple of times before so I know it's fairly involved.

The second time I did it, I ghosted the partition first then went with a "custom" uninstall. That gave me the option to easily choose all the files and registry entries to delete.

A quick check against the files and reg entries outlined in the instructions I have showed that I'd gotten them all.
