I have a WIN98 OS, AMD 300 processor. Someone gave me a 17" Decaview monitor, but when I connected it, the icons and the text on the desktop and AOL seem slightly blurry. When I connected the monitor it loaded the plut and play drivers. The monitor worked fine for this person before giving it to me and my 15" Packard Bell monitor worked fine before I connected the Decaview. Any ideas about why this is happening?

There should be some adjustments to make there, that will sharpen the focus for you

Sound like the focus on your monitor needs adjusting, this is an internal setting and is very easy to adjust. But only for experts.
The control is a potentiometer in the EHT (extra high tention) circuit. This typically operates at 15 to 20 thousand volts, and can kill you, if you make a mistake.
So unless you are an electronics technician with experience at these things, get an expert.
Any compitent TV technician could do the job for you. BF
Couple of things to check:
Look on the back where the VGA cable or connector is in case there is an impedance (Ohms loading) switch, if there is try the other setting.
Check the menu for a Zonal Focus adjustment, or a Moire adjustment (which actually trims the focus slightly, & may be set too far).
But certainly, as mentioned, a monitor's focus potentiometer can be jarred out of position by being transported.
I have this feeling that a monitor out of focus is not likely to be as complex as you folks are hinting at.

Go to device manager and delete the monitor and display adaptor, then reboot.
