need help with upgrading pc

Motherboard: MBD PII/BX TB2 W/AUD JABIL R0

Processor: SAC PII 450MHZ R1

Memory: GW MEM DIM 128M 8X8 4C 100/66 R0

Hard Drive: HDD IDE 10.2GB MAX 91020D6 R0

Video Card: VID CRD 16MB NV4 AGP R1

Operating System: SWR OPC MS WINDOWS 98 R0


Those are some specific specs of my pc, my basic specs are on my signature.

-One thing I was wondering was, how much RAM can I add to my pc? Can I add 256 MB 2100 DDR-RAM?
-How fast of a processor can I add to my PC as well? What if I wanted a PIII or 4 1 GHZ processor? Can I add that to my PC with the specs I have?
-Also how much Harddrive can I add? Can I add 40GB space or do I need a new motherboard, etc?
-What type of videocard can I add?

You can't use DDR memory on that mobo, and in fact 128Mb is all you need for Win98.

You can't use a P3 or P4 CPU unless maybe you can find a Slocket adaptor somewhere, and you've already got the fastest P2 available. I don't think it would be cost effective to upgrade.

I would expect the HD limit to be 32Gb, but you might be able to download a BIOS upgrade that'll allow for a larger drive. Otherwise you can buy a PCI HD controller card which will allow you to use any size of drive.

You can probably add pretty much any AGP card - most are backward compatible. You won't get much benefit, though as the card will just spend all it's time waiting for data from the CPU.

Are there motherboard +chipsets with pentiums that are low-cost, maybe like a P4 2 Ghz or P3 1-1.5 ghz?

That way I can add ddr-ram, and video card, etc.

I definitely wouldn't bother with a P3. A 2GHz P4 processor will be quite cheap, but I wouldn't advise a cheap mobo, get something at least halfway decent and you'll have a nice stable PC. You still don't need to spend megabucks for a good mobo. I like Gigabyte mobo's myself.
